Hey peeps, Whazzup? I wish we had more interaction here on the blog. But maybe those days are bygone… Anyways, I’m enjoying the summer. Quebec is such a beautiful place to live in at this season. I’m taking deep breaths and sweetly gazing into the future, and the present, too.
Work is a lot slower at this time. Peeps don’t really want to take English lessons when the temps rise, and the city is full of outdoor activities. So I’m giving all my energy to the ones that still do come. I’m also developing new ideas for fall. Hopefully then my enterprise will soar again.
Today I’m hyped up since my sister is on her way to visit us. It’s been a long haul not connecting face to face. Tomorrow we’re off to Portland, Maine, so blogging from there will definitely follow.
What would you ask me if you saw me? Let’s go…
Sebastien and I took a long weekend trip to up North the province of Quebec. We saw the Saguenay Fjord, the city of Chicutimi and Lake Saint Jean. These outfit pics come from the lake shore that actually looks more like a sea. The below shot is of the fjord.
The landscapes were breathtaking. Such vast nature. I’m a city girl but a lovely getaway like this is always a welcomed game changer. Some relaxation was well needed. I’ve actually been MIA on the blog, because life has gotten so busy. Summer slowdown has gotten me develop my own business. Brainstorming new ideas on how to grow my English teaching activity has grabbed all my attention. It’s been a fun process. Hanging out at Starbucks – yes, I’ve kept that on the program – and jotting down possibilities to try.
Life is a journey and each period is sweet in its own way, I’m in my professional refection phase right now and I’m making the most of the ride… Sending love to y’all!
Christmas is almost here. I delighted in the red holiday decorations outside of my condo. It feels good to have a reason to take some time to relax and kick back. As I’m writing this, I am already vacationing in Hawaii. You can follow my adventures in real time thru Instagram – the link is on the side. I worked hard up until the moment of departure. In Canada we hadn’t really had snow this season. The weather was rainy and gray most days. That kind of color scheme necessitates action. I ventured out to Starbucks those days when my mood needed an extra push. Hanging out there for an hour or so – and I felt like a new person again.
DC dulcet it was… What a blast of my country’s delicious culture and history. Where did I feel the most touched – at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. “Out of a mountain of despair a stone of hope.” The day was sizzling hot. Sebu and I had to dip our heads into water fountains. We had lunch at the Botanical Gardens – even their tropical climate seemed to be giving us some refuge from the beating sun.
DC is a full-eye-and-body experience. You can walk your little feet into a coma and dazzle your visual senses til you cannot take any more majestic landmarks. We slept in our glamping tent at a campground, a train ride away from the capital. That ended up being a very practical an idea. At the end of our days, we’d ride the subway home, get some dinner and doze off to the sound of Maryland grasshoppers.

G by Guess ballet flats
Oh those blisters when they hit ya…
Water! Joy! After a mid 90s day… This felt like a true oasis.
We drove up to Atlantic City to check out the East Coast gambling scene. Well, no moneying for this gal, but some outlet shopping yep. I found a pair of black and white pumps at Payless, a tank top at G for Guess and ballet flats. It’s not the first time that H&M as well as Forever 21 outlet shops leave me longing for more. Seems like their outlet stores are quite the end-of-it-all frock cemeteries.
After shoppin’ till droppin’, we headed out to the boardwalk via Starbucks. We sipped our coffees and munched on our cookies on a bench as people strolled by. Once nourished, we ventured on to check out each end of the boardwalk, stepping into some casinos every once in a while. The most impressive one was the Taj Mahal. A light show projected on a palace wall as well as the 10:15pm fireworks delighted us. After that it was time to grab a bite of delish pizza, mine veggie and his chicken ranch. Atlantic City most likely pales out in comparison to Las Vegas but you can have your sweet moment there. I know I did.

Happy birthday America! My heart belongs to you. You are my American dream. Yep, maybe unrealistic, but an idea I hold dear. The land of opportunity and generosity. The place where I first heard “you are beautiful” and “you dance well”. I look over the Atlantic and I feel blessed to be on this side of the Pond – right now.
I’ll be celebrating with cocktails and yummy bites with my Sweetheart. Our Jersey shore vacay is sweetly approaching… so we’ll be surely talking about that. Also, time to celebrate by booking another vacay for Christmas in Hawaii. From coast to coast, so many gorgeous places to see.
