The Alamo – Peaceful Warrior

This is the Alamo. The number one battle of Texas. That’s how the Lone Star State got liberated from Mexico. Visiting the Alamo in San Antonio is a must experience. The Mission gardens are peaceful and majestic. You can find inner calmness and center there.

I love breaking into a yoga pose when the desire hits. My pink sneakers are perfect companions when out and about for extended times. We fueled ourselves with tacos and later on Starbucks. San Antonio treated us to some quality time together, regardless of that day’s somewhat gloomy weather.

Traveling boosts my life for many weeks and months to come. As I explore new places, I gather precious information about myself as well. I learn how to find my peaceful warrior wherever I go. I have kept my travel memories preciously stored and ready to be used, when need be. They are my toolbox to a balanced daily life.

We had fun strolling down Clematis Street, the main action street in town. West Palm Beach is a small city with true Floridan charm. The ocean shore adds to the magic. There were luxurious yachts docked at the harbor. The sweetheart and I admired them and stopped to sit on a bench. The city had provided a lovely holiday décor. We also popped in a library on Clematis. If I lived in West Palm Beach, that library would definitely be my favorite hangout. They had cozy reading nooks and even a cafe.

Plaid Pink Chicago Bean

Back to Chicago… Here’s to the Bean! It’s really worth it venturing out to the Millennium Park and checking out the giant legume. There was a relaxed atmosphere. Folks just chilling and enjoying the spring day. I felt chirpy in my pink leggings. Spring days need that color boost.

We enjoyed seeing many colorful murals. Chicago is very much affected by the over the ground subway network flowing thru the city. We toured around the Loop Area and saw some interesting coffee shops. We also tasted Chicago’s famous Garrett’s American cheese-caramel corn pop corn mix.

Chicago made my mood pink. It boosted me in my desire to go on living and experiencing. I gave me a blast of fashion, city culture and encounters with new people. I walked a ton, drank a few sips and laughed endlessly.

Waikiki Valentine

Waikiki Valentine

This is the last batch of my Hawaii pics. You can see Honolulu, Waikiki Beach and Hanauma Bay. The perky mountain peak is called the Diamond Head.

Valentine’s Day has always been a special day in our French-American couple. My Parisian hubs has been educated to celebrate love on Feb 14. We got engaged in Paris on that day. We make the day special with chocolates, flowers, casually leaving a new glossy magazine on the coffee table, treating ourselves to some sushi… Whatever our hearts desire. One year it was a brunch in the skies.

This year we will go out clubbing. Just the two of us. We like to get funky like that and spend some one-on-one precious time together. We are never bored of each other’s company. We’re best friends, confidantes and crazy wild lovers all at the same time.

Pink Top with Self Confidence Talk

Pink Glamour Top

I’m still in the process of pondering the blog name change like I told you last week. Alicia, thank you sweetly for your precious opinion.

Life in January is filled with little drops of happiness. I look for them. I hunger for them. So I had one today. Look at my Instagram and you’ll see a pic of the smiley me with a coffee that a client brought as he came to class.

Now, let’s relax with that coffee (or whatever makes you feel precious and warm inside) and talk about things that matter. Let’s exchange and in the process be boosted.

I’m a person who loves pretty clothes – definitely pink – knowing about trends and creating glamorous outfits. These all add a nice extra taste to my days. That said, I am also someone who is quite sensitive emotionally. I need to be able to express how I feel at regular intervals. Sometimes I find this to be too much. I’d like to be less soft-hearted. I’d like to be tougher. When the going gets more intense, we all look for strong pillars around us. We appreciate people who don’t panic. I have that attitude in me – I am sure – I just need to consciously lure it out.

How can one gain more emotional stability? First, you have to relax. You have to find a feeling of trust in life. That hot-chocolate comforting, pancake smelling sentiment that “yep, I’ll be OK”. You have to determine where you can find it. My safety assurance is my faith in Jesus. God made this world, so he is able to protect me.

Once your safe base is found, you have to learn to remind yourself to go back there. These things don’t come automatically, especially after years of opposite, read anxious, behavior. It’s alright to catch yourself worrying. But act as soon as you can. I find going out for a walk, reading something captivating or talking with someone who really listens to me soothing.

I also remind myself that “this too will pass”. Sometimes things that are there here and now seem so dramatic. Yet when the sun rises again, the effect will already have lessened. You do something you regret. OK, that’s human. Don’t beat yourself up for it longer than five minutes. You go thru it, think how you’ll learn from it and then push yourself to forget all ruminating. Sometimes I feel tense around other people – social anxiety they call it – even if I don’t want to. I hate that and scold myself for it hours beyond the event. What if I just said “I wish I could be more true to my real inner being, which I believe to be a confident girl. Next time I’ll have a fresh new opportunity to let more of true me come out”.

Sweet Annapolis

Sweet Annapolis

We visited Annapolis. It was a steaming hot, scorchingly humid afternoon that turned into a dulcet mid 80s evening. Annapolis is a cute little town. The U.S. Naval Academy dominates the city with its majestic presence. There are cute souvenir and gift shops. We ended up strolling uptown where the historical sites are, then ventures along the Naval Academy’s walls down to the waterfront.

The heat had us exhausted and so we stopped and had dinner at this famous deli that had pictures of fun times on their walls – like any Italian, family-owned business would do. They perform the “pledging allegiance to the flag” ceremony every morning. Sebastien went for crab cakes and I wanted something little – ending up with a huge plate of nachos, with all fixings imaginable, under my nose. Luckily my dinner date graciously helped me out. I wouldn’t want to waste yummy food.
