Winter is pretty much at its peak now. In Canada the temps go way down and you have to adapt… not like my bygone Paris days when a sturdy trench pretty much did the February trick. The good attitude is the key, too. Getting funky with glamorous apparel. Just layering it up when outside.
Crisp winter air has its positives. Oftentimes it renders things fairy-dust coated and tale-like. It can give you a boost of energy. This year I’ve gone all out – literally – with winter sports. I’ve been to the slopes twice, cross-country skiing twice as well, one snow-stormy snowshoeing hike and lots of ice-skating.
Now I’m also doing “the squat challenge”. The idea is to start by 50 squats a day, upping it by 5 every passing day, until 80, and then increasing the reps by 10 until you get to 200 squats a day. I can already feel the super efficient toning effect. I get a kick out of sore muscles. Well, in moderation of course. They make me feel contented with my efforts to keep a chic and sexy silhouette.
Next weekend will be action filled. We’ll launch the festivities on Valentine’s Day with my Frenchie with cocktails, and more… just the two of us. For the French, the Lovers’ Day really is an important celebration. I love the pampering I get from my Sweets every year come mid-Février. Like last year.
Saturday will be downhill skiing in Stoneham. Followed by a raclette – an Alpine dish based on melted cheese – dinner at my hubs’ boss’s. Shall be interesting to get to know her more. I’ve just met her briefly.
Sunday my friend Valerie and I are hosting a tea party at our church. Dress code is hoisted, four different teas, salty and sweet treats will be parading on pink-clothed tables. I’ll be busy pouring tea, but also babbling with funky folks. I adore the mix of people we have. Hopefully new faces, too. The very core idea of a church, non? Valerie loves any an occasion to dress up. I totally follow her delirium.
These are my current winter pleasures… a colorful ballet of little things sparkly and precious.
