This is me meeting the Florida Panthers ice-hockey player Sasha Barkov. How do I know this stylish – both inside and out – young man? My dear Daddy used to coach him.
My Dad has devoted his life to the puck game. He’s taught me what passion and determination look like. Sasha claims my dad to be one of the reasons he’s now playing in the big (NHL) games.
Meeting Sasha felt very enjoyable, first and foremost because he seems to be very down-to-earth and appreciative of the signs of interest that people now are showing him. All the stars appear to be lining up for his future glory – he got chosen to the Finnish Olympic Team – yet the young man remains kind and humble, having the patience to talk to people that maybe coming from afar to see him score.
Sebastien, my hubs, rocking my dad’s team’s jersey. For him the game was a definite high point of his Sunshine State stay.
Cute girls come to games, huh. I know I used to hang out at the indoor ice-rink back in my skating days. I’d also perform during the intermission.
Another Finnish player swung by.
This is where the fun took place. Sebastien and I baptized it the BBQ Center. I have to admit having had one of the most delicious chocolate chip cookies there. Those puppies are my trusted treat.
So, an evening nicely spent. After the game we drove to Ocean Drive, South Beach Miami, for some drinks. This is an example of how life’s pleasures are made of tiny little encounters and kind events, all coming together. And us grabbing the chance and being grateful.
