Paris… London… New York

Paris is a caramel filled coffee macaroon, New York a butterscotch double chocolate cupcake… and London… a fruitcake? Last time I went there it was more like a humongous devilish chocolate chip muffin nicely devoured on the go from a Waterloo station baked goodies heaven. This year is something very momentous to me. This city fairy will take a slip over to London in mid-April and then a hop over to New York in late summer. These cities spark me. They each have their personalities, and a reason why I covet their wondrous thrust.

Paris is where my heart satisfies its craving for beauty. The architecture here just pleases my eye. Facing the sublimely detailed Haussmanian buildings, small statues and quaint little alleys is where I stand in awe. Forever. This city brings out the artist in us and makes us want to create, to do something worth living.

London… the one in the triple that I know the least. London symbolizes pop culture, the youthfulness in me. The daring side and the goofiness. There is also something interesting in the way Brits clothe themselves – cutely uptight at times, yet so adorably reckless and spunky.

New York is where my heart starts beating faster. The Big Apple is about getting on the high gear, finding out what’s cutting-edge and having the courage to do what you want. Making it in the big world – the one that we never thought would have a place for us.

I hope that my upcoming travels will get me yet more acquainted with my soul’s chosen metropolises. I above all hope to stumble upon interesting encounters. After all, it is the inhabitants that weave together the essence of a city.

Ah, you’re lucky to be so close to London and the rest of Europe.

That’s great news about your plans! (One of the hardest things for me to do is to make time to make the plans, haha).

Good to know you’re doing well, Susu.

Kitty – Yep, I’m a happy camper these days… the up-coming plans and the increasing luminosity, wow! I’ll pop in on your blog Kitty… A warm Paris hug!

I can see that you share the same interests than I do. I just booked flights to Paris and I will spend Labour day in Stockholm. It is so wonderful to travel and see different kind of places.

Btw, I loved your article about Vanilla, caramel and fudge… I will so go to Ladurée, when I will be in Paris.

Never been in New York which is absolutely on my list what comes to cities which I must see as soon as possible. I can feel that spring is coming because I have this desperate fever, this fever to travel away… Oh, enjoy your trips!

Spark – How nice to see a new face here! Maybe you’ve been reading for a while already, but this is your first comment – and I’m honored! So a very warm welcome! And do stop by again. Spring is truly magical – you just get so much energy from all the buzz in the surrounding nature. Even an urban soul does.

Mo – Let’s see. What would you associate with London? I’m curious to hear a true connoisseur’s opinion. I’m sure that everyone understood that my writing was purely subjective – exclusively.

your pictures are always so lovely. i love this pretty one of you with the sweets in the background and the idea of great artists like warhol and picasso for learning and appreciation…

Audrey – Yep, I’ll be scooting over to London on the Eurostar. I’ve taken it once before, two years ago, and it was an extremely pleasant of a journey. It seemed so surprisingly fast, too, from Paris – felt like London was just around the corner. And I said to myself, “gotta come more often”.

I’m glad you appreciate my pictures. I realize that I’ve been taking photos of bright colored pastries lately. Would I be longing for something spurring and sugary… spring and the ice-cream season are on their succulent way!

I’ve been to Paris and London many times, but I have yet to make it to New York. How is it possible that I’ve never been to NYC???? Have fun!
