Paris Fashion Week breezed in, and decamped quite right off. I missed both the haute couture – being out of town – and the ready to wear rounding up this week. I was just so implausibly busy at work. I did try though to squeeze myself in to the Stella McCartney show, with little success. So as of my pleasure, I’m going street reporters and letting you in on the latest on Paris shop windows for a real sunny escapade.
Bright colors are in, yellow being the ultimate flagpole. Being a pale skinned blond, I’m still trying to figure out my relationship with this demanding hue. Probably in accessories. An idea of yellow high heels seems both spooky and beguiling. Purple remains a sure value, and peachy tones as well as lots of different greens are out there too. Materials seem very see through and light, plenty of silk and satin imitations. Flowing dresses and tops, with ample ruffles and other crafty details.
Gloves are pop at the moment. I grant this to the fifties influence, currently well-observable on the music scene. Dresses take up some of that underlined waistline and bell bottom shapes in skirts.
I haven’t both one single item yet, and frankly for the moment I don’t really have anything special at aim. One of these days I’ll have to hit rue de Rennes in the 6th district, my trusted shopping area, and check out the merchandise more in detail. I’ll most likely look for something functional, yet fun and somewhat lady-like.

Audrey – The more I work, the more I need something else to counterbalance. Paris is truly magic – at least to me – in the sense that there’s always something to marvel. I hope things will arrange for you. Let’s keep looking up at the ever brightening sun!

i always get overwhelmed when I try to keep track of the new fashion trends during fashion week! Yellow is a fun color, but I understand what you mean about trying to match it with a pale complexion–yellow shoes could be a fun accessory!

I think few people can pull off these bright colors well. They can so easily overpower a person.
I’m pretty reliable in my color choices – black, brown, green, grey..and the occasional fashion item (color!). I agree with Nubia…it’s tough to keep up!

Nubia – I know what you mean about getting overwhelmed. I trust my instincts and concentrate on what I stumble upon. Yellow keeps fascinating me. I just did a yellow focused drawing. Maybe I’ll put it up here.
Kitty – The idea of having – and knowing – your base colors is a great. And then you add little sprinkles and dashes to spruce it all up. Fun, ecological and in stable accoradance with your personality.

I had a wonderful NY Fashion Week this year but it was exhausting. Between work and sneaking off to attend shows (courtesy of friends’ connections), I was one pooped out puppy.
