Dark chocolate, a glass of Brut Champagne, a touch of Chanel cream… these are my weapons against the dim November weather that has been lingering over Paris for the past few days. Sebu had his birthday, and of course my beloved bubbly beverage was invited to my sweetheart’s festivities. I equally rushed to the corner bakery to get us creamy, chocolaty treats.
Paris is getting ready for the gloomy seasons by hanging Christmas lights. The Champs-Elysées were already set to go last time I passed by a few days ago. Shop windows are getting more and more chocolate-filled, tempting arrangements are all around. Christmas time is a change to pause, first to expect something with pleasure and then to take it easy and enjoy life’s passing moments. One by one, in the wonderful company of your close ones.
Next weekend I’ll be giving thanks at my friend Christine’s Thanksgiving lunch. How soothing to have invitations, fun times are ahead. November’s grayness, in Paris, or much of elsewhere, pushes us to get active. But maybe that’s the ingenious master plan of the yearly turn around. Comforting foods and precious thoughts. Being thankful is always of absolute elegance – wear that and you’ll never get it wrong.

Aaaaahhhhhh, Paris! It gets my vote for being the world capital of comforting foods.

Audrey – Champagne, Chocolate and Chanel… the CH-therapy seems to work on me. They illuminated the Champs-Elysées yesterday. The lights are blue this year in honor of the European Union presidency that France is having. New York must also be magical in Christmas lighting.
The Big Finn – Yep, macaroons, chocolate mousse and hot steaming croissants are ready to help you at every corner!

mm…chocolate! and coffee, I’d have to say. These things do get us going.
I got the sense when I was in Paris that it certainly can be a tough city to live in, much like NYC – you have to combat the elements, the hustle and bustle. Only the strong survive.
happy birthday to your husband! Hope you two are staying warm

Kitty – I conveyed your happy b-day wishes to Sebu who was glad to receive them. I love the moment early on the day when a sweet odor of fresh coffee invades our place… and enjoy the steamy drink up to the last drop. Especially since I cannot drink too much of it. Paris does seem a lot like NYC. So pushy at times, so wonderful at others. Nice that you keep popping in Kitty!
