Carmen

I was invited by my all-time Paris friend Sarah to see a flamenco classic Carmen at the Chaillot Theater. It is situated on the Trocadero hill overlooking the Eiffel Tower. The night was magnificent. Dusk and jazzy tunes on the patio, after entering into the building, beautiful frescoes on the wall. And a surprise, the declaration of human rights, signed at the very edifice, stated a slate next to the artworks. The show was a treat – last night in Paris.

Before the spectacle we dined on a terrace in the 16th district. The eve was mild, conversation as precious as it can be between two good friends. Living this life of ours side by side, on the sly. Having finished our seafood salads we headed towards the show. It truly fulfilled my appetite, especially had it been a while since I could enjoy a dance piece. As a dancer myself, I appreciate focusing on little details and brief passing moments where I find the human body in harmony with the music, or sometimes in silence, in the flow of movement. Physical lines that continue in space. They inspire. They make me want to dance the next day.

Getting those impulses and having ideas pop into my mind are probably the main reasons why I roam around different cultural events. And my void is ever present. But in a positive way – I get satisfied. And then the next event comes along tempting, tickling my desires. One day I’d love to dance along the Seine riverbanks myself.

hoping you have a wonderful weekend…

  • Audrey – Dancing along the Seine… could there be anything more enticing to me… dreams, those precious life compagnions! Saturday morning here in Paris is under sunny skies. Chilly, like a fall should be. I’m wearing purple, and cuddling in a blanket, come the eve’. Hope your New York weekend will be sweet too!

  • How fun?! So nice to have a girls’ night out on the town.
Living in Paris seems so cosmopolitan to me, lol, much more so than over here. And Paris seems so much larger than New York.

  • Sounded like a great evening. Well, any adventure in Paris sounds exciting to me.

But nothing beats good food, good friendship and good times. Glad to hear you are enjoying all of them.

  • Kitty – Paris is cosmopolitan. You’ve got so many people from so many different origins here – European, American, African, Asian… you name it! This is a big city, but it has many little ‘hoods that can easily make you forget that your in a metropolitan area.

Ming the Merciless – I second your emotion. Friends make any weather or any food a lot tastier.
